Recently, Professor Witold Pedrycz, a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences and a professor at the University of Alberta, joined IIEP as co chair of the IIEP Academic Committee and research fellow!
Witold Pedrycz (IEEE Lifetime Fellow) is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences, a foreign member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Chief Scientist of the Canadian Center for Computational Intelligence Research. He has served as the President of IFSA and the President of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Association. Academician Witold Pedrycz has received multiple honors, including the Norbert Wiener Award from the IEEE Society for Systems Anthropology and Cybernetics, the IEEE Canadian Computer Engineering Award, the Kajalstel Soft Computing Award from the European Soft Computing Center, the Kiram Award, the Fuzzy Pioneer Award from the IEEE Society for Computational Intelligence, and the 2019 IEEE Society for Systems, Anthropology, and Cybernetics Meritorious Service Award. Academician Witold Pedrycz's main research areas include computational intelligence, fuzzy modeling and granular computing, knowledge discovery and data mining, fuzzy control, pattern recognition, knowledge-based neural networks, relational computing, and software engineering.
Academician Witold Pedrycz is currently the editor in chief of Information Sciences, editor in chief of WIREs Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery (Wiley), co editor in chief of Int. J. of Granular Computing (Springer), J. of Data Information and Management (Springer), and IEEE Trans Editorial board member of several internationally renowned journals such as SMC and IEEE Trans. Fuzzy Systems.
